Cost of horses in the PD

(3/22/2010) Q: How much would we save if we got rid of the horses for the PD?

A: The mounted unit costs approximately $100,000 per year. Suspending the unit is one of the smaller savings initiatives being considered as part of our IBB Process ($8M in FY 10/11 cuts). The finial determination will be made by the new Chief after he has started and taken stock of the department.
